Rue.di Dam and Reservoir, now under construction, will provide replacement storage for diversions from the Colorado River system through the Divide to supply water for Reclamation's Fryingpan-Arkansas Project. The contract goes to Schmidt Construction, Inc., Arvada, Colo., on the lowest of six bids received under Specification No. DC-6368. Second low was H. E. Lowdermilk Co., Englewood, Colo., at $1,137,402; and third, at $1,330,056, was Colorado Constructors, Inc., Denver, Colo. The contractor will relocate some seven miles of county road to a higher level around Ruedi Reservoir site and will improve an additional three-mile stretch of the same road. The proposed road is approximately at timberline in the Colorado Rockies, about 8,000 feet above sea level. The job is to be completed before the reservoir starts to fill in early 1968.
